Skin & Health Preparation
• Avoid sun exposure and tanning (natural or solarium) for at least 2–4 weeks prior to treatment. Use SPF 30+ daily.
• Do not use self-tanners for at least 2 weeks before treatment.
• Avoid chemical peels, waxing, depilatory creams, or intense exfoliation on the treatment area for at least 1 week prior.
• Discontinue retinoids, glycolic acid, and strong actives on the treatment area for 3–5 days before treatment (for laser, avoid at least 7 days).
• Do not have Botox or dermal fillers in the treatment area for at least 2 weeks prior (if relevant).
• Stay hydrated — aim for at least 2 L of water daily for optimal skin and tissue response.
Medical & Lifestyle Considerations
• Inform your clinician of any medical conditions, recent surgeries, active infections, or skin disorders in the treatment area.
• Disclose all medications and supplements, especially those that may increase bleeding/bruising (e.g., aspirin, ibuprofen, high-dose vitamin E, fish oil). Your provider will advise if you need to pause them.
• Avoid alcohol and smoking for at least 24–48 hours before treatment — they can impair healing.
• Pregnancy & breastfeeding — treatments are generally not recommended; discuss with your provider.
Area-Specific Instructions
For Laser Treatments
• Shave the area 24 hours before (for hair removal). Do not wax, tweeze, or use depilatory creams in the 4 weeks before.
• Arrive with clean skin — no lotions, deodorant, makeup, perfume, or SPF on the treatment area.
• If prone to cold sores (HSV-1), notify your provider — antiviral prophylaxis may be needed for facial treatments.
For HIFU (Skin Tightening / Lifting)
• Avoid anti-inflammatory medications (unless prescribed for a medical condition) for 24 hours prior — they may reduce the inflammatory healing response that contributes to results.
• Remove all makeup, skincare products, and jewelry from the treatment area before the procedure.
For Body Contouring (e.g., shockwave, radiofrequency, cryolipolysis)
• Maintain a balanced diet and regular hydration leading up to your appointment.
• Avoid heavy meals, alcohol, and excessive caffeine in the 12 hours before treatment.
• Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing.
Day of Treatment
