To ensure optimal results and a safe treatment experience, please follow the instructions below prior to your body contouring session. These apply to non-invasive treatments targeting fat reduction, muscle toning, and body shaping.
Who Should Not Be Treated (Contraindications)
Please inform your therapist before treatment if any of the following apply:
- Pregnant or breastfeeding
- Metal implants or electronic devices (e.g. pacemakers, cochlear implants) in or near the treatment area
- Hernia or abdominal wall weakness in the treatment area (especially for EMS)
- History of epilepsy, cardiac disorders, or severe varicose veins
- Active cancer, malignancy, or recent chemotherapy
- Skin infections, inflammation, or open wounds in the treatment area
- Recent surgery in or near the treatment area (within the past 6 months)
- Liver or kidney disease (for fat cavitation)
- Poor lymphatic drainage or lymphedema
- Menstruation (for abdominal treatments – EMS and cavitation are not recommended during this time)
- Use of anticoagulants or blood-thinning medications
- Uncontrolled thyroid disorders or diabetes
General Preparation
- Hydration is key:
Drink at least 1.5 to 2 litres of water the day before, and on the day of treatment. This helps your lymphatic system eliminate broken-down fat cells (especially for cavitation and fat freezing). - Avoid alcohol and caffeine for 24 hours prior, as they can dehydrate the body and affect lymphatic flow.
- Do not eat a large or heavy meal immediately before your session. A light snack is fine.
- No moisturisers, creams, or oils should be applied to the treatment area on the day of the appointment.
- Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing. The area may feel tender or slightly swollen post-treatment.
- Shave the treatment area if there is dense body hair (especially for EMS or fat freezing pads).
Specific Considerations per Treatment
Fat Freezing (Cryolipolysis)
- Avoid anti-inflammatories like ibuprofen or aspirin for 1–2 days prior if possible.
- Expect temporary numbness, swelling, redness, or bruising after treatment.
- Do not schedule major events or travel right after, as some discomfort or bruising is normal.
Fat Cavitation (Ultrasound)
- Ensure good hydration before and after.
- Avoid high-fat, high-carb meals 24 hours before and after to maximise fat metabolism.
- Lymphatic massage or light physical activity post-treatment helps improve results.
EMS Muscle Stimulation
- Not recommended during menstruation for abdominal areas.
- Avoid heavy workouts on the same day before or after EMS sessions.
- You may feel sore post-treatment (similar to a workout).
Medications & Supplements
- Let your practitioner know about any medications or supplements you’re taking, especially:
- Blood thinners
- Hormonal medications
- Diuretics
- Avoid supplements with caffeine, creatine, or stimulants on the day of treatment.
Before Your First Appointment
- A consultation and medical history will be conducted before your first session.
- A treatment plan may be created based on your goals and body assessment.
- In some cases, before photos will be taken with your consent to track progress.
